Guide to Shared Ownership

Shared ownership is commonly referred to as 'part buy, part rent' and it does exactly what it says on the tin - you buy a share of a property and pay a rent to Hafod on the share that you don't own. If you want to you can buy more shares over time and eventually own the property outright if you want to.

Shared ownership is a great solution for people on more modest incomes that cannot raise a large enough mortgage to buy a property outright or via shared equity.

What sort of property can I buy?

The properties that Hafod offer for sale on shared ownership will usually be brand new and built by a volume or private housebuilder as part of a wider development. Most of the time the properties will be flats, but you should check out the Properties For Sale section to see what's available in the areas you wish to live in. If you doon't see any properties that interest you please feel free to contact us at homeownership@hafod.org.uk or telephone 02920 675800 to see if we have any opprtunities planned for the future.

What about resale properties?

Hafod has been providing shared ownership properties since the 1980's. As such we still do have a small number of second hand homes which are still owned on shared ownership terms which come up for sale from time to time.

Please see below for details of shared ownership resales that are currently available to purchase.
